The newly-elected members of the House of Representatives have planned to launch an alliance that would generate credible leaders of the lower legislative chamber ahead of inauguration of the National Assembly in the first week of June, 2023.
The Reps-elect who were drawn from across different political parties, expressed their commitment to championing the leadership election and selection of the 10th House of Representatives.
Preferred to be known as ‘The 10th Assembly Pathfinders’, they said the presiding officers would come out of their group, particularly the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, according to their agenda as contained in a document made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday.
The group, which is billed to be launched soon, opined that the 10th House of Representatives must be seen to be independent, responsive and providing stability to the nation, a desire they maintained, would determine the personalities to be elected principal officers of the lower legislative chamber.
The document partly read, “We are a group of parliamentarians drawn across political party lines for the purpose of building a network of nation builders who will use the platform of the legislature to propose, support, and promote legislative activities to:
“Promote national unity, good governance, responsible leadership, and prosperity of all parts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; promote healthy conversation, debates, and collaboration for national development.”
Like never before, DAILY POST observed that there are daily increases in the number of aspirants desiring to be Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the 10th House of Representatives, even as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC is yet to make pronouncements on zoning of principal offices.
