Akwa Ibom elections: Police promise investigation of genuine criminal infractions

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has promised to investigate and prosecute all the criminal infractions witnessed during the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections and March 18 governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police on Elections Duty, Mohammed Ari Ali, commended Akwa Ibom people for their peaceful disposition during the elections and encouraged them to unite and sustain the peace in the state.

While noting that the command had received a lot of accolades from organisations and good spirited individuals, for providing adequate security before, during and after the elections, the commissioner thanked sister security agencies for their collaborations during the period even as he reassured the people of police’s commitment to providing adequate security.

“The Command wishes to assure everyone that genuine criminal infractions will be investigated and prosecuted,” the statement affirmed while also urging citizens to contact any of its numbers―0803 921 3071, 0818 924 3935 and 0808 138 8797―in case of emergency.
