The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba, has congratulated Muslims in the state on witnessing this year’s Eid-el-Fitri.
Adelugba, in a statement by her Special Adviser (Media), Odunayo Ogunmola, noted that celebrating the Eid-el-Fitri marks the end of participation in the holy month of Ramadan, which is an important pillar of Islam.
The Speaker said the Almighty Allah must be praised for keeping the Muslim faithful throughout the 30-day fasting period, which she described as a rigorous spiritual exercise that deepens the relationship between the faithful and their creator.
She urged the Muslim faithful to sustain the lessons of humility, service, endurance, piety, submission to the will of the Almighty Allah and righteousness learnt during the holy month and allow them to guide their daily lives.
Adelugba prayed the Almighty Allah to answer the prayers and accept the supplications made by the Muslim Ummah during the holy month of Ramadan for themselves, families, Ekiti State and Nigeria.
The Speaker expressed confidence that the prayers offered for peace, tranquillity, stability and prosperity of Ekiti State, in particular, and Nigeria, in general, had been answered, and the citizens would soon be reaping the fruit in key sectors of the state and national affairs.
She commended the Muslim clerics and the faithful for their support for the Ekiti State Government led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, which she noted had contributed to successes recorded so far by the administration within a short time.
While noting that Ekiti has always been reputed to be one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, the Speaker attributed this to the peaceful coexistence and harmony that exist in the state, which Muslims have contributed to their sustenance.
