FAO, Nigeria Govt eye N38bn funding to improve agricultural sector

The Food and Agriculture Organization and the Nigerian government are eyeing N38.3 billion ($83.16m) to develop the country’s agricultural sector.

The figure was contained in an FAO report from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Friday.

According to the data, the FAO Nigeria Country Programming Framework 2023-2027 already has N7.54 billion for the agriculture initiative.

The initiative’s priority would be to spur capacity for value chain analysis, upgrading commodity value chains.

“The funding gap would be solved through resource mobilisation and partnership with multilateral and unilateral donors including governments at federal and state levels,” it said.
