The National Assembly Management has revealed that arrangements have been concluded for the inauguration of members of the 10th parliamentary session after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has finished the election exercise with an authentic list of Senators-elect and Reps-elect released.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Secretary, Ali Barde Umoru which was made available to journalists, stating that the NASS in conjunction with the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, would induct the newly elected parliamentarians in the upper and lower legislative chambers.
The statement revealed the commencement of induction, saying: “The Induction programme, which will be held in two batches, is scheduled to commence from the 7th to 13th of May 2023 with Batch A, while Batch ‘’B’’ will hold from May 14th to May 20th , 2023.”
According to the statement, the newly-elected parliamentarians would be exposed to functions of the National Assembly, its practices and procedures as well as the services available to them, among other things.
For purposes of inauguration, the management said, the Clerk to the National Assembly, has constituted a committee to ensure a hitch-free event.
“As part of the efforts to ensure a very successful Induction/Inauguration exercise, the Management led by the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Alh. Sani Magaji Tambawal has constituted a CentralPlanning Committee (CPC) made up of all the Secretaries in the National Assembly Service. Membership was also drawn from the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) and the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).”
