Over 3000 officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force have been deployed across the nooks and crannies of Taraba state.
The action, according to the state police command, is to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration in the entire axis of the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Amodu Suleiman, who made this known on Friday in Jalingo, the state capital, said security has also been beefed up in the various worship centres.
The Commissioner, who spoke through the command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Usman, said the command, in collaboration with sister agencies, have deployed personnel to areas that have been identified as flashpoints in the state.
The Commissioner, according to Usman, has “directed all the DPOs spread across this state to ensure that there is no breach of peace before, during and after the Sallah celebration in any of the local government areas.”
Heavily armed policemen were noticed in major areas in the Jalingo metropolis.
Activities of hoodlums, especially in the Southern part of the state, have recently been on the increase.
DAILY POST reports that apart from the staff of the Federal University, Wukari, who was earlier this week murdered in his farm in Wukari Council, two immigrants attached to a checkpoint in Ussa Council, were also gruesomely killed by suspected bandits.
